Donate a Bike

Have an old bike you don’t need? Give it a new home by donating it to The ReCYCLEry. We are always in need of bikes that are good to excellent condition.

You can also donate supplies such as helmets, pedals, seats, and brake pads. Drop any items off at one of our workshops or email us to schedule a drop off time. In special circumstances, we can also pick up bikes.  Email us at for more information.

The ReCYCLEry has been an amazing partner to the disability community and assisted First In Families of North Carolina with providing bicycles to over a dozen children over the past several months.  They are always eager to help, and a wonderful partner, the embody the Tarheel spirit in every way.

I have been to The ReCYCLEry many times and have gotten two bikes.  I think this place is great because if a poor family can not afford a brand new bike straight from the store they could just go over take apart a couple of bikes then get a nice gently worn bike for FREE!!!!! This place is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone is made to feel welcome and respected at the Recyclery. I have met people from all areas of the community at the Recyclery — people from the neighborhood, grad students from China and Africa, elementary school children and retirees. My middle-school daughter and her friend were shown how to take bikes apart and put back together, and were treated with respect and kindness. The Recyclery is a great example of a healthy community program.

The ReCYCLEry has empowered adults and young adults by providing them clean, affordable transportation and basic bicycle maintenance skills. It has introduced many children to their first bikes, and had made their early bicycling experience even more awesome by partnering with other groups to bring Kidical Mass rides to North Carolina. In addition, The ReCYCLEry has partnered with and mentored other cycling advocacy groups in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. It is a valuable resource for our community.

The ReCYCLEry is a beautiful piece of working art. The finished product is the smiling faces of people getting a bike or being helped to repair one. They are a role model for individuals as well as for other groups.

ReCYCLEry Volunteer

Having volunteered several times and have been to a few of the ReCYCLEry’s events I would say it’s well worth the 125 mile drive to participate. They have started a fire in me and I do what I can in my small town for bicycling.
